Flat or Threaded
Just curious, do people view the forum threads in Flat or Threaded mode. The reason I ask is that I tend to use flat mode but then a lot of the posts don't make sense because they're answering someones earlier post. If I then switch to viewing in threaded mode some of the posts that didn't make sense now do, but some that were OK now don't make sense...
Is it just to do with which 'Reply' link you hit? Is there some standard that we should all be sticking to? Does it really matter?

Yours confusedly,

I use Flat and I find it annoying as you can loose the direction and who is replying to who. BUT I find threaded far to slow to use.
UBB(The software suppliers) Version 6.5 resolves this to some extent by putting the name of the person you are replying to on the top of your post - see www.web.co.uk for examples.
This forum used to do that, too (put the name of the person you were replying to in your reply post). But when we upgraded to a newer version, they eliminated that feature, for some strange reason.
So now most people use a quote in their reply to let you know what they are replying to.
I think most people read the forum in flat mode, despite the occasional confusion when people switch subjects within the thead.
I don't know why people change the subject line within a thread. If you are changing the subject, why not start a new thread?
It is just too easy to get off on tangents, because one thing makes you think of another thing, and on and on until we are talking about space shuttles to Mars.

That would be cool. I hope I live to see the day that a person walks on Mars.
I love to eat those Mars bars. My favorite candy bar.

Man, The signal strength bars on my cell phone are not what they used to be. Reception is terrible...
