A friend called me this morning and said they were down at Oregon Inlet (Outer Banks NC) and there was a sailboat in distress.I grabbed my VHF and binoculars and headed down there to see what was up. The guy on this sailboat made it through the break across the inlet (first pic) and under the bridge before he ran aground and was airlifted off. They had to drop a swimmer and get the 2 people to jump in the water separately to be rescued, as the tether for the basket was getting stuck in the rigging.Got to see the whole thing unfold, fortunately everyone was safe.
To keep this cat related the Worrell used to sail right by here, the year they skipped this leg it looked like this.
