This fun event took place last october

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=XcLXJemv1-M

Minute 4:10 you can see a pole from the water with balloons attached high
The sailors had to blow them, in order to do that you need to fly your hull high and control your boat perfectly

Enjoy

I reckon I could get my boat right up out of the water on that dodgy looking rock shelf that you sail around!

I know that you don't have tide, but there must be some days when it is hard to see.

It is a beautiful place to sail. The rocks are about 100 yards off the beach and very visible. Most of their racing is outside the rocks
I was there last spring to teach a seminar and found it was one of the most pleasant things I have ever done. Very impressed with the sailors, the people and the country.

This was a great event, celebrating the end of the summer last year. For those few souls who don't understand the hebrew in the movie, let me recap:
The first event was a relay race from the beach to a couple of buoys about 200 yards offshore and back. each crew took a non sailor, and they had to jump off and touch the next boat. Pretty tight racing, with some nice spinnaker beachings....
Next was a slalom race from the beach, around 4 reefs and back to the beach.
Finally, 2 hullflying competitions. The first to see who could pop the highest balloon, then a distance run between 2 buoys.
Lots of free beer, good music and a fantastic time for all sailors, families and guests.

Looks like one of the sailors in the first video abandoned the righting attempt fairly early.

Erez, great to see all the video, hope I get back there soon but Tel Aviv has become so popular I can't get a trip!

You guys should see how clear the water is! I'll bet there's great scuba diving too.
