Well boys, we got ourselves a big duel next week at this year’s Great Texas.

Mighty John Casey, from Orlando, Fl, is coming to the Great Texas determined to show that he is not only the king of distance racing in Florida but also Texas. John Casey is three time winner of the Tybee 500. He also has a few other big wins to boot including two US Multihull Championships (Alter Cup).

John Tomko is ready for the fight. This is his home turf and is ready to defend his title. Tomko has won the Great Texas six times and he is hungry for his seventh victory.

Tomko and Casey have been battling each other for years on the race course. They went head to head in the 2002 Worrell 1000 with Casey coming out on top with a third place finish and Tomko with a fifth place finish.

Again, they went head to head in the 2005 version of the Great Texas. However, broken parts, weeds, and renegade pushers all kept both competitors out of first and let Dave Mimlitch and Ian Billings slip in ahead of Casey (in second) and Tomko (in third).

So, it is now 2012. Both are hungry for this fight. Who’s going to win? Is it going to be Casey or Tomko (or maybe just maybe someone else will pull the surprise win this year)?

This fight will be shown live at the www.gt300.com. Live Streaming starts at 9:30 am central on June 13th. Don’t miss it!

Steve

JC I'm assuming is going to be on the Cirrus R.
Tomko is on the C2.

I too am putting my money on John.

Is Chris racing? Green that is.

I've got money on him to place. (doesn't that mean top 2 in horses?)

O/W, it's Tomko all the way, he knows where the shortcuts are! 😉 . His wife Tiffany once crewed for me in RedFish Reach Regatta in Galveston Bay on my old Frankenboat N6.0 . That's before they were married, Way before.

Then it's JC to Show (top 3?)

Chris Green is on the bench this year with a new baby on the way.
You're right, though, this race can be quite technical with reading the conditions and deciding which path to take. It's much more than a

follow the leader speed parade

. Boat speed and tactics go hand in hand for a top place finish. I rarely get the two of them to work for me in this race...or any other.
