2006 General Meeting of the Great Texas Fleet
January 31, 2006
Meeting Review

As required by the by-laws of the Great Texas Fleet, the Annual General Meeting of the fleet was conducted on Tuesday, January 31, 2006. Approximately 30 people participated in the meeting via a conference call.

The required election of officers was held and the following people will hold the following offices for the upcoming year:
Commodore: Steve Piche
Vice-Commodore: Tom Meyer
Treasurer: Mike Rohrer
Sponsorship (Beach Captain): Terri Reuwsaat

Mike Rohrer presented a Treasurer’s report on 2005 and budget for 2006. Details of the report may be found in the Discussion section on pisailing.com web site.

The annual membership fee for the fleet was set at $10. Membership fees for 2006 are due by May 1, 2006. They may be paid as part of registration or separately. A form for fleet membership will be available on the web site by March 1.

Steve Piche reported that the sites for South Padre, Mustang Island, Matagorda Island and Surfside will be the same as the previous year. The Tiki hotel and Surfside motel are now taking reservations for the race. See information book from last year’s race for details on these locations (posted on the web site).

Finish location, hotel, and party location for Galveston have not yet been determined. Options have been explored and will continue to be explored for the next couple of months. Thor Jones will be sending information on the Parks Board. Dave McDaniel, Roy Shaw and Chris Green also offered to assist with plans in Galveston.

Tom Meyer announced that the Notice of Race, Registration Form and Rules will be posted on the web site by March 1. Early registration for $325 will close on May 1. After that time, registration will go up to $425. Tom said there would not be any major changes in the rules except for changes associated with carrying an EPIRB or Sat phone. Cindy McDaniel has volunteered to help with Race Committee.

Steve Piche will take the lead on some fund raising and sponsorship activities in March. This will involve direct solicitation of known companies and individuals for cash donations.

Kate Wodash agreed to help with media coordination for the race.

Ray Cone and John Webster agreed to help with trophies if needed.

Steve Piche announced that Andrew Tatton and Luis Olivera had agreed to be off-site web reporters. Terri Reuwsaat will coordinate beach reporting. Sean Stevens will return as the photographer. Jen and Chris Holt will take the lead on T-shirts and will work with Patric Geery of Horizon Sportswear.
