[#18012]

i was sold an old hobie cat 16 about a year ago, i took it out and sailed it and soon discovered there was a large crack on the bottom of the crossbar under the mast(making the mast bounce up and down with the waves). this crack happened becuase there was no dolphin striker rod on the boat. I want to get this fixed so i can sail, WHAT SHOULD I DO?

i live in capistrano beach california

if anyone knows any online part stores that would sell me a new crossbar please post the link.

could i have an aluminum welder weld up the crack and just get a dolphin striker rod? would it be sturdy or should ijust get a new crossbar?

I would suggest dont repair, but replace.

But where to buy? I really have no idea, I could not find one here in the online store. Maybe your local hobie cat dealer can help.

You're lucky the crossbar didn't break. Replace the crossbar before sailing the boat again. Any Hobie dealer can get you the crossbar/dolphin striker assembly.

If it didn't have a striker, surely its a hobie 14?

You should take the old crossbar and flog the previous owner soundly about the head and shoulders. <img src=
