[#22091]

I'm trying to come up with a graphic scheme for the hull of my recently created US 1 Meter R/C boat. I kinda like what I mocked up - although I'm not a big fan of the plain red - but it's not quite there yet....I'm at a creative impasse. Show me some ideas! One constraint; my complaint with the solid colored hull is that it's really hard to tell what tack you're on at a distance at weird angles. If the deck has differently colored features, it would make it easier to see.

And one for you to play with if you feel so inclined:

Its my design so do not worry about copy right issues. The vector is ready to be emailed if you so choose it.

Good luck.

I would do red on port and green on stb. Cant get any easier buddy. <img src=

Run the chevrons in back over the back of the boat. Curved lines in front, straight in back, should be able to discern from a distance

Ooo wow...you guys are good. I was hesitant to put too much vinyl on the sides to inhibit water flow...but very nice...keep 'em coming!

Clear coat the graphics in? Sand everything smooth like on a motorcycle tank. Weight issue perhaps?

Yes, weight is a problem already. The boat has a 4 lb lead bulb and total read-to-sail weight of 6.5 lbs. For a championship quality boat, it needs to be around 5.5lbs all-up. Besides, I just finished wet sanding, buffing, and waxing the hull as it is.

I'm going to build a batch of four next go-round and I'm going to build with the mindset that EVERY tenth of an oz counts. My current hull, without radio gear but with mast brace, radio tray (carbon fiber/foam core), bulkhead (carbon/foam), weighs 1 lb 4oz .. the next ones should ring in at less than 3/4 lb. The evil trade-off is impact resistance...how much light is too light?

For a complete photo-essay over the last 2.5 years of this project; go to http://www.flickr.com/photos/teamseacats/sets/72157594185325987/ and http://www.flickr.com/photos/teamseacats/sets/72157602243597101/ (the first set includes the beginnings of the first hull shape I abandoned.)

This should make it easy for you to see which tack you are on.

For some reason, the ninja comment reminded me of this old unrefined graphic I had.

Well, I know this is a pretty revolutionary idea, but why do you need ANYTHING on the hulls? Can't they just be

simple white

? <img src=

Yeah, but JC talked me into painting it solid gray and I'm sick and tired of everyone asking me

what color are you going to paint it?

.

Jake, I like your second one(blue). I was wondering about the morphing avatar... Is that a rabbit drinking Guiness?
