What do you mean? Like a stainless dog bone? With the stopper knot on my trap set up you could adjust it but isn't something you could do quickly. It would be nice to see that set up. Doubt he would post pics though.

Item G. Lots of people use it. You just hook into the round end when there is chop, the longer end as needed.

I was not able to find it at the Online Store.

Is it

the FAD

we see go upwind? <img src=

alt=

/> Nice trapeezing, but look at the mainsheet and mast. Looks like mainsheet is very tight, and that's probably where his windward ability lies.

The Bobster never sails in any single mode. He is about as constant as the wind is. He changes up that mainsheet as the wind changes, and it is easier said than done(to do it correctly). (and that's not the only thing he changes)

My point is that the quote statement above might get some guy to thinking............

That's it! Next time I'll just sheet tight and point right with that FAD guy and kick his butt!!

Ahh, .........I doubt it. Simply sheeting tight ain't a quick fix.

I think his upwind sailing ability just might have something to do with the 30 years or so that he has been sailing catamarans with and against some of the best sailors anywhere.

If you really want to go up against the Master Uni Fad guy at his best, try it after a strong cold front has gone through say in early spring when the wind is shifting all over the place. The wind was relatively constant at HWJuana's Saturday.

No doubt about it. Whole post is true.

I think Rolf just wanted confirmation that the video was a commercial for Bob. <img src=

Hey.......HWhat's the deal with this cushy F16U rating of 67.1? Jees! The F17 is like 150 lb's heavier than the F16 and has a rating of 66.7 ..........

Our good buddy Wouter always used the rating of 65.2 like it was for 1 or 2 up.

I was just thinking about RTI next year. On prevailing wind days, it's mostly a spinnaker run all the way around for the most part...............

Them

F16 guys are gonna be chomping at the bit to race F17's in a race where there's not much upwind racing to worry about.

The norm is to race the F16 at 65.2, no matter the configuration.

The F17 I saw this past weekend was MUCH faster than 66.1 (?, didn't check the decimal). <img src=

The Master Uni FAD Guy is usually rated on a different scale...

Didn't you notice that asterisk on the Portsmouth Ratings page? <img src=

I have a newbie question, been reading this forum for a couple of years. I purchased a old H-16, but find myself sailing only single-handed. Would it be better to find a good cat design to fit my deeds?
looking at the results, http://juanaspagodas.com/RegattaNews.htm
I see that Nacra builds a F16 & a F17
anyone know the price difference

Rich

There was an error in the results posting. Nacra does not make an F16. The F16s there were all Vectorworks marine blades. Nacra makes the SL16 but it isn't an F16 and I am not sure it is meant to be sailed solo.
Nacra does make the N17R

F17

Lol! Patrick, you've been tagged with the 1980s syndrome characterized by Hobie sailors' belief that anything without a Flying H is a Nacra. I got labeled as the Nacra Capricorn the other day. Try not to take offense, oh ye F16-nazis. <img src=

Day 1 was a distance race. Day 2 was two buoy races. The results are a combination of the two days.

For F16: contact Vectorworks Marine (Blade design, US based), Formula Catamarans Australia (Blade design, Aus based),Stealth Marine (Stealth design, UK based), or Australian High Perf Catamaran (AHPC) (Taipan design or Viper design, Aus based with US importers in FL). They'll get you started.

For F17: contact Performance Catamarans (makers of the NACRA line).

You can email me at tbshannon[at]charter.net if you have other questions.

Give it a break Bob !

You weren't sailing against the Mac's or even our

master uni-rig sailor

AKA

the F16 world champion

.

First take on somebody of your own size before you tell us things about the boats that we will not see anywhere on the net.

I see everyone has Blades, I have sent an email to both Nacra & Blade. I have already received a bunch of info from Nacra.

Bob, your input would be appreciated

Bob:

How do you rte the Blade as a step up for me from the 17. I am getting good spin training on the 4.3 and have lost 30 lbs. Down around 200 lbs now.

I have wondered whether some people's desire to sail solo is because no one will sail with them. I think that has occurred with some people desiring to sail solo. Some more than others, not wanting to name names.
