[#15884]

I've seen a number of beachcats on the beach near a hotel in Juno Beach (Ocean Reef??). There's a steep ramp leading to the beach and a chain across the ramp preventing easy access. The people at the hotel say this has nothing to do with them and I had to call the Juno Beach Town Hall. Does anyone know how to get in there (legally?).

That is actually Jupiter. They put the gate up earlier this year and not sure why. You can contact the Jupiter Parks Department and they might be able to give you an answer.

I usually set-up at Phil Foster Park off of Blue Heron in between the mainland and Singer Island but that is under construction.

Let me know what you find out or if you need an alternate launching area.

I've thought about Phil Foster but I read a horror story about ramps on weekends a couple of weeks ago. How is it?. Do I need to get there by 6am??

Hello, it really sucks without Phil Foster park, when they are done I have been told they will keep the area under the bridge for non motorized boats, we'll see... Up in Jupiter I spoke with Park and Rec and the guy just said he put the chain up because he wanted too, pretty lame. I didn't ask about a spot on the beach though. I usually leave town when using my cat, have you been to Sebastian State Park, Stuart causeway, Delray Beach(also no parking). Out by Sebring they have some nice lakes but not sure about ramps. Locally lake mangonia in WPB is ok.
Check out 1design.net for regattas which are all over the state and fun, that's what I started doing. Maybe someday Palm Beach County will realize how much money is going out of town due to not being cat friendly.
What kind of cat do you sail? I have an old P18, but it works fine.

Good Luck

The Phil Foster ramp would be great, but I think I'll stay away during weekends. I have a P19 (bought it in March). Other than the stepping/destepping the mast its been a lot of fun. Right now I am looking at long trips to Hobie beach everytime I sail.

Marie Curie Park could also be an ok option.

I would think the ocean would be a lot rougher with that damn hurricane sitting off our cost. The seas are still flat.
