Looking for Nacra non-captive mast base
Hi there, I just moved and I am now in a fairly remote location (50.27N-66.44W) and I want to modify my current Nacra 5.2 to make easier to set-up and sail singlehandled.
Stepping the mast and righting the boat are a big concern for me. I could try to build a mast hinge and a mast stand to try to step the mast alone but I would rather spend my free time sailing instead of building and adjusting such a device.
I am looking for an old, used and beat-up Non-Captive mast base. I would like to install a 24’ mast and sail on my boat.
I already have the 24’ mast, sail and enough spare rigging but if I would find a mast base, I would be able to setup my boat like a H14 to make mast stepping much easier.
I do not mind is the mast step is damaged as long as the cup is still ok, my new mast will have a smaller mast section so there will be some tinkering.
I am simply trying to salvage what’s left of my sailing season.
If you have a mast base lying around, please contact me and we will try to work something out.

Charles, I changed out my 5.2 to a captive mast base last year. I have the old non-captive with the old rod and bolt somewhere. I will take a look this evening and see if I can find them. I'd be more than happy to send it to you (no charge) if I can find it. You know that the ball is smaller on the non-captive unit although still available but expensive.
Regards,
Mike
Mike,
Thank you for your help, my Nacra 5.2 is still completely set up with the non-captive system with the small ball. I did own a Nacra 5.7 before and it was with the captive mast system so I can tell the difference between the two systems.
I almost did the upgrade last year but I think that the one person mast stepping will be easier with the non captive system and the vertical pull technique.
