3 point margin going into a medal race....

there is wind forecast....

I'm betting on Bundy and Gashby.

I am down to my first knuckles now....That was a big race by AUS. They have just cut ESP's lead from 7 points to 3. They now only have to get one point between them and ESP in the medal race but will have to watch for ARG and GER just behind them.

We are in for a hot race in the medal race..... Hopefully with breeze too.

Top 10

ESP on 26
AUS on 29
ARG on 34
GER on 52
CAN on 57
NED on 58
ITA on 58
GRE on 60
GBR on 66
AUT on 68

Hagara not a threat but good to see him just scrape into the medal race in the T's last Games. He deserves it.

If they get some breeze, I would think Bundy and Ashby can pull it off. Those two are winners and Bundy really wants that gold to complement his silver.

The one windy race we saw AUS won and ESP came 4th. ESP can also sailwell in a breeze. ESP deserve to win the regatta as they have been the better team so far..... But I hope they get Silver. 😉

CAN with 57 has a bronze shot with a little help from GER (52) and ARG (44). Very long shot for silver...if AUS is 10th or worse (DNF) & CAN gets 2nd (done that twice today!) plus ARG & GER down the list.

Just a litle note - there is no provision for shortening course like we have in club racing. Removed so that you can't have a local race officer shorten course when your team is in front. What the race officer can do is shorten the length of the course and indicate C-.

Right, I was speaking in a more general sense.

I've never really understood the no-shortening provision, seems to protect juries from dealing with unscrupulous PROs at the expense of good, fair PROs, and for that matter, the good of an event. What I mean is, if races are being tossed because they can't be shortened, there is most definitely a negative effect on the leaders of those races.

Granted, everyone competing knows this going in, but to me, this is an ultimate example of tail wags dog. But then again, with all that is accused of going on in judged events (gymnastics, ice skating), this may be a small concession. Of course, if the race were going your way for a medal and got tossed, that would be hard to live with when it is so obvious that there's a viable answer used at the vast majority of other regattas.

With the Olympics almost over perhaps it is time to reflect on one of the brightest decision made.

In November the Canadians voted to remove the multihull. Now lets look at their Olympic results: RSX Men 23; RSX Women 17; Laser 9; Radial 17; 470 Men 29; Finn 5 Yngling 13, 49er 14

As I write this I don’t know where the Canadian Tornado team will finish but it sure a lot higher than a lot of the disciplines they supported.

How smart is Canadian Yachting Association! Perhaps it needs a board change to reflect what is actually being sailed well in Canada

The Spanish and Argentinians are doing a few victory laps past the pier.
Pretty nasty conditions though (washing machine).

Gold-ESP
Silver-AUS
Bronze-ARG

Don't want to sound bitter but the Greeks cost their Aussie training partners any hope of a gold with that start.
