[#19779]

Hi everyone, I just purchased a H16 1988 an upgrade from my 1976 boat and I am getting her ready to race in May. My gudgeons are bad and need replaced. Should I stick with the standard upper and lower like the boat has or switch to the newer one peice?

If it were my boat and the rudder housings fit I would move to the one-piece style. I believe all the new model Hobie 16's are one-piece also.

Stick with the old style.
The mounting holes in the new ones don't line up exactly.
The new ones are aluminum and need to be replaced more often than the SS.
The new style gudgeon wants to have a new style lower rudder casting with a recess so that you can turn the rudders all the way.

Thanks for the input. I just ordered the older style after reading up on the topic. I need to get the boat to the water and am short on time.
