Prindle Hulls - Fixing or Replacing
I'm the proud (?) owner of an older (1991) Prindle 18 down in Curacao and have been having fun learning how to sail one of these things. Certainly a different kind of sailing than on the little Centaur I learned in! Anyway, the inside front third of the starboard hull has a large area where the fiberglass is separating from the rest of the (balsa?) core. The foreward section of the top of the port hull had a similar problem but injecting epoxy into it seems to have gotten it quite solid again. I'm not at all confident that the same solution can be applied to the part of the hull that goes below water and receives much of the force from sailing and am wondering if this is something that can be fixed or if my only option is finding a used hull to replace it with? Any recommendations or ideas? The boat being down in Curacao makes finding spare parts a more difficult proposition than being in the states I think. Appreciate any advice for a new cat lover.
thanx,
