Got some good feedback from the Founders Park office staff today about the recent Wave Nationals. Learned that some of the locals enjoy coming out to watch the races and
meet and greet
with the racers in the
pits.
Apparently they stumbled onto the event the previous year. They enjoyed it so much that this year they brought some friends along. Apparently they make an event of it by biking to the park, watching the action and schmoozing with the sailors.
Wave Nationals racers you may give yourselves a pat on the back for being open and friendly with these folks. You are celebrities to them.
So, that being said, apparently the area here is developing a bit of a following for regattas so they'll get their money's worth in a few weeks when Tradewinds rolls around.
