The Outer banks catamaran club is having a 30 mile distance race on Sat. Oct. 5. In the spirit of the Key Largo Steeplechase we will be racing around Roanoke Island, on the Outer Banks of North Carolina, last known home of the Lost Colony. Sailing takes place in the Croatan and Roanoke sounds . For information E-mail Todd@teamcatfever.com

Hope to see you there.

Wow!! What a great course and spot for a race. I have been sailing on the Outer Banks for years and this looks like a great race. Looking forward to the 5th.

Wish I could make it, but alas, I'm being dragged to the moutains this weekend by the other half.

Thanks to Todd & Jackie Hart and the OBXCC for putting on this race. Lightly attended for the inaugral running, but a great course. We had all conditions from full out double trapping to light air tacking duels. Todd Hart and Peanut Johnson edged out Charles Thuman and Jon Britt by 6 seconds after over 30 miles of racing around Roanoke Island. Both boats finished on the beach with chutes up and big smiles. Todd and Peanut won the elapsed time trophy on an Inter 20 and Charles and Jon won the corrected time on a Nacra 6.0. Ben Vorndran and Barry Wickre took third on a Nacra 6.0. Great launching spot to start and finish, challenging course, three bridges to go under and the maze of fish traps(at which Todd & Peanut manuevered through a bit better than Charles & Jon) make this a great race which we will continue every year. We hope to work with other area sailing groups on our schedule next year and make this a premier mid-Atlantic area distance race.
