ROUND TEXEL

Texel, Holland: Sven Karsenbarg/ Mischa Heemskerk have won the 25th running

of Round Texel. Sven Karsenbarg could hardly get his words out when he

reached the beach after his spectacular race. He only spoke briefly to the

press. "The sail was dreadfully difficult, especially on the Wadden Sea. We

had to work really hard. We are happy, but completely worn out." He and his

teammate had trouble uncorking the bottle of champagne they had won as Line

Honours winners.

The EDS Sailing Team with Mitch Booth and Herbert Dercksen had to abandon

the race after the boat pitch polled at full speed at the North point of the

island. Mitch Booth was seriously injured when he hit the dagger board .

Booth could hardly move and was in great pain.

With a rescue boat Booth was taken of the water with a rescue boat and an

ambulance brought him to Den Helder. Serious back or hip problems were

feared but luckily Booth only had severe bruises. Nothing was broken or

seriously damaged. Booth has to stay in the hospital for further observation

and also as he could hardly move.

The team was lying in fifth position at the moment of the dramatic accident.

At full speed they lost control of the boat. Herbert Dercksen explains, "We

were doing some 25 knots when the leeward hull dug in en we flipped over

forward. Mitch was on the windward hull and I was in the trapeze. Mitch

rammed into the dagger board and I was catapulted of the boat. Very sad and

sorry for Mitch but I am also very relieved that it is nothing serious. It

looked bad on the water."

Top five final places (adjusted for handicap):

1.Sven Karsenbarg/ Mischa Heemskerk

2.Gunnar Larsen/ Gerhard van Geest

3.Peter Vink/ Sven de Laaf

4.Darren Bundock/ Luca Remagnino

5.Xander Pols/ Leoniek Faas

brobru,

You can save the Texel results page to computer as a .htm document.

Open it in Excel or any other modern spreadsheet program.

You might have to format the "Time" and "Corrected Time" columns as hh:mm:ss

Now sort on the "Time" column and you have the boats sorted on their performance (finish time).

Hopefully this is what you are looking for.

I have ordered it on elapsed time in an excel sheet.

It does take a little bit more fiddling with parameters to get it correct.

So any interested parties can mail me and I will mail the excel sheet to them.
