The Round the Island race set for Saturday Sept 28 is confirmed as planned. All projections show that Isidore should not be a problem. The RTI race committee headed by Randy Smyth has an alternate course that will be sailed inside the Intracoastal Waterway if necessary. The course would be the same 100 miles but it would be inside the protection of the Waterway instead of the Gulf of Mexico.This has been utilized several times over the last 20 years and has been proven to be very safe and fun if the conditions warrant .The bottom line is the race is always fun and exciting and this years will prove to be no different.The pre-registered entries have already exceeded last years numbers so this should turn out to be one of the highest attended distance races in several years.
