Depends on the kind of sailing you want to do.

If you plan buoys racing. zippers are a pain.. you need a wide deep bag with bungee that holds the mouth shut for speed of launching and dowsing.

If you distance race, this bag is not optimal because wave action can cause the chute to work's it way out up wind. better to have the zippered bag that Mike Hill spoke of.

Both will work and just depends on your performance requirements.

It's also a good time to think about pockets on the bag for stuffing the spin sheet, halyard and tack Or a chart pocket for distance races.

Take Care

Sheet length depends again on how you plan to rig the chute.

If you want to put a doubler on the sheet to reduce the handling loads... it will be longer.

The Mafoli swift cord is great stuff for spin sheets... (easy on the hands)

In either way.. it has to be long enough for your crew to be able to dump it in a stuff while trapped off the boat in the rear footstrap at the transoms and still able to get it back in.

Take a look at Lars Guck's photo in this month's edition of sailing world

Have fun
