OK
I'll fire it up.
First he has no respect for the dead (four poster bed). Now that gets me.
To make matters worse, he plugs the F18, comparable to the Holy Grail Tornado. If ever there was a boat that epitomised what is wrong with catsailing, it is the F18. Overweight and with a jib for the little woman to play with upwind. Now that is old fashioned. Why a jib when you have a Spin for downwind? But then, the HT never took off. go figure. HT too expensive? Then why the intimidating and expensive jib setup f18?
I am really with Randy on the alternate sport catamaran stance. The more distance we put between ourselves and the halfboats the better.
Anyone see the rash of swing keels on SA? They hell to hoist the thing out the water to get some weigth and corrective moment out of them. Basicly, they have got a proa on either tack, the one problem remaining is that the sail is 45 degrees of heel and desperately trying to shove the boat under with the little force remaining from heeling the monster

To paraphrase Dave;

How dare he attack Boat A?! Especially when Boat B sucks so much!

Not that I agree...

...but given the rather biting quality of some of the descriptors that Smyth uses, I rather thought some boat owners around here would be up in arms...

Dave

Les' just say, it's hard for people who are used to jib, learn how to sail without one.....

reach without a jib? Can't do it... blah blah....

Lateral thinking? Whatta concept....

Some of the Fboat guys are using canting rigs, which would solve your monoproa... see if you can't find pix of ABANDONED ASSETS or GAMERA, f'rinstance...
