I saw some video last night and though the newsreader described it as "a building" I am sure that it was the New Orleans S.Y.C. going up in smoke, or down to the floodline.
Part of my family is in Covington. I haven't heard from them since yesterday morning.
You are right, that was SYC. Unfortunately even if the fire dept were able to mobilize they couldn't get to the building as it is surrounded by water. 
There are other areas that have not made the news that we don't know if there is anything left...
Thats the third big %$^ hurricane in my lifetime, enough already. I'm sure the rest of you guys on the coast will agree!

I saw that video and noticed that all the sailboat masts were at odd angles - they must all have been on shore. That is a sad sight.

I was able to catch some of the club's trophies and other yc burgees as they floated by. Not many but its a start. Ill try to get some pics to upload tomarrow. Im afraid I have a long week of floating boats and cutting them in half.
BTW Half of the bar floated into my sov 30 which is parked behind Greg S's house. Its bad when a bar that large floats away...... I did manage to salvage a few bottle of whisky as they floated by. =) Time to fall off the wagon. =(
