The Steeplechase is 5 and half weeks away, is anyone planning on doing it this year? Rick, are you still running this one? Is Gilberts onboard?

and Jeff, Dec. 13-15, here's the NOR: http://www.catsailor.com/Steeplechase.html

And Tradewinds is about 9 weeks away, Jan 18-20, time to get busy!

Tim you're referencing next years race (all the way to the right) ... I'm already populating

known

races for 2014.

The only race left (scheduled) for 2013 is Steeple Chase and it should be the first column on the left next to the names (between the yellow colored columns that state

Begin 2013 Calendar

and

Begin 2014

).

Tim how the heck do you land those BIG planes on the runways?

That NOR is from 2012....

I'm probably not making it this year.

Flying big planes onto little runways takes the opposite skill set of being a computer geek, that's how.

When you let computer geeks fly big airplanes, they land in the San Fran Bay, on a clear day, at noon. You just stay on your computer, you'll be fine and nobody else will get hurt. Leave the flying to us Cave Men.

Wow you guys in Florida really stink at promoting events... amazing that the attendance from people outside of Florida has dwindled.
I'd like to attend Steeplechase again, but I want there to be at least 12-15 boats committed before I commit and we don't have that long to go.
If Ding tells me we will have 12-15 I will be there. And Karl must be there so I can take that trophy away as Ding said I had to at the AGM.

Tim, as you know I'm aware of the schedules and their location... I have interweb skills. The intention of this post was to give a shout out to the regulars and see if there is enough interest to keep making plans. It's also a poke in the ribs for Rick to see if Gilberts is onboard and if we are really a go this year. This routine has become a Steeplechase tradition.

Todd, complaining about the lack of promotion for this one is like complaining about sun being too bright. You are well aware how this one works and why. Besides isn't your boat going to be in a container in December? Before you ask the answer is no, I've seen what you do to borrowed boats. Yeah, yeah it wasn't your fault.

The F18 trophy appears to be up for grabs, Karl is making noise that he isn't doing the event. Personally I think it's a trick so I'm planning on him being there. The question is who will be pulling strings for him, we know it's not going to be Brogger he is a bit delicate for an F18.

THart, are you going to drag your very expensive yard ornament down and make another run or are you too old and broken?

My complaint about poorly promoting the event was more poking at Tim's comment about NOBODY being registered. That kind of talk doesn't help attendance. Here in the Northeast we try to drive a core group of people to register so it starts building attendance. Plus there are lots of people who don't even look on pre-registration, let alone some google thing that I know I've never used.
There's a lot to be said for preregistration and there is only one entry at the official event registration: http://www.catsailor.com/registration/

Karl better be attending! I haven't heard enough bitching about how horrible the New England 100 was yet.

I hope our container will be back in time, unlikely but hopeful. And we didn't do any damage to our borrowed boat last year so please remove the (S) from boats, it's only one boat we destroyed. And no it wasn't my fault!!

You threw down the gauntlet and talked a bunch of shite last year, so I came down to put a solid beatdown on your worn out asz. But lo & behold you decided to smoke cigars, play golf and lose at poker instead (who's the old fart). So you missed your chance to learn something. Not planning on it this year as I don't feel like moving the car up on blocks ,the old washing machines, tires and Christmas lights that are also part of my lawn ornamentation. Pulling the boat out of the weeds would destroy the masterpiece and wreck the feng shui. Plus, you'd probably be a no show again anyway, but brighten up buttercup, if you do show that's one spot higher on the leaderboard for ya.

So you're not coming? I understand the F18 isn't for everyone. The boat is heavy the strings hurt your hands and it's hard to sail downwind fast in short steep chop. I can see where an N20 Acat hybrid sailor would find the boat unpleasant.

Don't let me keep you from your apolcalpyse planning, ordering ammo and freeze dried food can be very time consuming espeically since the man is buying all the ammo. Have you finished the bunker yet? The end of days is coming, all the nutters can't be wrong... can they?

Buttercup out!

I believe our boat will still be in a container, so not going to make plans unless

loaner

boats are available. Though I see Krantz is registered...

Come on Sam get onboard. If the container isn't here then you can harass the sh!t out of Todd, it's a win win.

So where is the MAN with all the ammo, I need some, still pretty scarce. I hope he takes a liking to golf balls and cigars next.
Believe me when I say that I find your golf hobby (grown men paying inordinate amounts of money to dress like an idiot and beat a little white ball around with a stick) as absurd as you find my shooting hobby, but I wouldn't take a cheap shot at you about it.

Ricky promised me that he would have our boats back in Miami for Steeplechase. Stop in Miami, unload the container, and drive down to Gilberts for assembly.

Grandpa I see you've got a new name - Old Goat…

Besides if the boats aren't back, somebody has to be around to light his cigars for him...

Bet ya $50 that information has not been conveyed to the port in St. Maarten....and island time doesn't lead to fast moving containers. Keys are still lovely in December, when the snow starts shutting down I95 and the liquor trucks start spinning tires.

Karl,

Are you driving by Milwaukee for this, with a spot on your trailer, and a spot in your truck? (I'm defintiely a good driver- slow in the driveway)

This one has been on my bucket list for many a year.

In case you did not notice (and most don't because they come straight to the Forum and bypass the Headline/Welcome Page) there is a link to NOR on that page. Just click on the logo in upper left corner or go to www.catsailor.com and you will see the NOR link.
Preregistration would be nice.
Trophies are ordered and almost ready.
Wind will be the normal 15 mph with mildly lumpy seas on the ocean side and flat seas on the back side.
Party Friday night.., Frank Moore is hopefully supplying more rum and there will plenty of beer at my house.

Buttercup????

That string pullin' sh!t is hard. Especially if you're a candy butt accustomed to the handkerchief sized F16 sails.

since ya'll have reduced the size of the control lines to that of fishing line/dental floss, I would suspect that doesn't exactly help the hands...

Where'd I put that 16:1 traveler setup?

PS I just checked and I DO have a 3:1 traveler (I think)
