Hello everyone,
I am 16 years old and I am looking to buy a second hand cat. I have crewed on a dart 16 for the last few years and now I would like to go sailing on my own. there are alot of dart 18s for sale in my area but I'm concerned that if I capsize, I will not be able to right the cat on my own. Can anyone suggest any cats that would be suitable for me. By the way I weigh 70 kg (151 lbs)

Either the Dart 15 or 16. You will right the Dart 15 OK. Probably, if there is enough wind to capsize you, there will be enough to help you right the 16 solo. The Dart 15 has a great fun racing circuit and can be car topped. If you can find a good second-hand Catapult, it is also very easy to right. If it is in good shape, don't let the inflatable hulls put you off. It is a very fast cat and great fun singlehanded. On flat water, because of its good pointing ability, it can hold a Dart 18 upwind. Very light also - for pulling up a slip or beach.
