Coming up Saturday, August 17, 2013 we have the Tri-Point Ocean Race off the coast of Ventura, California..

This race has been noted as one of the best Mini Ocean Race for beachcats. The course is about 34 NM offering beam to broad reaches out around one of the jewels of the Channel Island National Park--- Anacapa Island.. The start will be from Mandalay Buoy offshore, proceed around Platform Gina (could set up for a good spin run) a screaming beam reach out to Anacapa Island, some technical upwind sailing up the back side taking in the wild life, and then leaving then the island to starboard with another screaming beam reach to finish at the Ventura Harbor entrance channel.

NOR and entry forms can be found here:

Tri-Point NOR

Entry Form

So far we have 10 beachcats looking to do this race and there is room for more. With a few more entries we'll have the PHRF A & B fleets beat with participants.

If you have a boat and no crew we can help with that as there some experienced ex-owners looking for a ride, and the same if your looking for a ride we'll find ya a boat.

This is such a bad a$$ race. It's fast and has incredible scenery. Team Chums is in the planning stages on getting the boat and crew out there to be on the starting line.

Look forward to it Lee... bring your check book and pack a lunch, you're going to need them both if Roy Seman shows up... which he will!

Have a good Fourth!

There will be 4 boats coming from Phoenix
P19
TheMightyHobie18
Bimar 18HT
N20

I can't wait! I love this race! I've been going through equipment for the last week making sure batteries are good, trailer is good, boat is always good, minor adjustments. We're throwing the Bimar upside down on the I20. Should be a fun setup in Ventura for Jim.

We're thinking that Sunday we may want to run up the coast to Santa Barbra and tear down there. They should be wrapping up W&R when we get there. Is that a run that is commonly made? Is it a stretch because of wind direction, or wave shape, or anything else we might need to know about?

I've made the run a few times. It's fun as long as there's wind.

Congratulations to Lee Wicklund... Lee was first over the finish line for the Tri-Point Race... this was after a long drive from Houston, TX to Ventura, CA...

Also...thanks to the Group from Arizona Fleet 42 for a strong showing... The beachcat dinghy size catamaran class was the largest class for the race with 5 of these boats making the trip across the Mojave desert.

As a note, PBYC is moving the Beachcat Perpetual Trophy form the Milt Ingram to the Tri-Point...

Hope to see many of you next year for the Tri-Point if not sooner...

Again congrats Lee... awesome job.
