All,

I am about to buy a used hobie + trailer. All is swell with the boat, however before I can go and pick it up, I need to register the trailer as the previous owner did not register it when he got it from the guy he bought it from.

I can only find the brand and model number (Mastercraft model 970) on the trailer and no VIN number. So the RMV (Mass) doesn't let me register this trailer w/o VIN number or registration from previous owner.

Questions:
- Does any of you know where the VIN might be hidden.
- If I can't find the VIN, does anybody of you know the company (they are from connecticut) so I can call them to find out how to register the damn thing.

Thanks

B-MAN,
I ran into the same problem here in California.
I first had to go to the highway patrol office to have the trailer inspected for safety. They gave me the ok slip which I then took to the DMV where they gave me a vin # and finally got the reg.....Good luck it was a pain in the a..
as are all trips to the DMV

Here in MN, I had the same problem, and ultimately ended up registering the trailer as a "homemade" trailer. Worked for me!
