Who's planning on doin' the Tybee?
Frank Moore (of Team Windy Hill) and I are building a team to return as Team Seacats this year. Bonnie's coming back to do web reporting and although the new website is not completely ready, we're going to start chronicling the boat work as we get prepared for the race. Let's see a little TEAM CAT FEVER action!

This year it is open to Nacra 20 and F18. In previous years they've had an open class but so few actually made an appearance that they've elected to restrict it.
Are they running the race as two different classes?
This is going pretty much on gut feel (read: I don't have any factual information) but I feel pretty sure that the intent is to run two different one-design fleets. However, I have yet to hear of any F18's with intent to race this year.
Seriously though, I think an F18 fleet in the Tybee500 would be great exposure for the North American F18 fleet and the Tybee 500 ... it could also help the race to attract some more European sailors. It's an incredible stretch of coast.
I think the F18 is perfectly capable of doing the T500. We've sailed it on an 18HT and an N20.
We're taking a break this year. David and/or I have been there every year since the '00 Worrell as sailors or ground crew.
We'll probably be back in 2007 on an F18 if we can promote a fleet. I tried last year, but no one was interested.
If there are any European teams that are interested in talking to us in person, we're planning on racing the F18 Worlds in Hyeres France this July. Come look us up.
