Come On Folks, Don't Be Bashful !
I know sailors always have something to say. 🤣 Since I started sending out "please come back" emails hundreds have setup their new passwords and logged back in, but the forum is a ghost town so far.
Any suggestions? Is it difficult to see how it works for someone new to the site? Did you just like the old one better and are pissed off? DO YOU HATE ME? AHHHHHHHHHH!
I'm not losing it, your losing it. 🤑Â
Thanks very much for refurbishing the site! It's a huge improvement in my view and seems to work great.. I highly doubt anyone hates you!!!!
Spring-time in the Northern latitudes is on it's way, even though some of us got a bit of snow just the other day...AGAIN!.... So buck-up par'ner. Sailors will begin their jaw'in in just a few weeks or so.... right?!
You'd think that more Floridians would be talking about all their sailing adventures and racing this winter.
Here's something that catsailors in my area are pretty excited about:
2026 HOBIE 16 INTERNATIONAL CHAMPIONSHIP - International Hobie Class Association
Beachcat Catamaran Event Calendar | TheBeachcats.com
After Hurricane Katrina, all that was left of the Ocean Springs Yacht Club was a few bare pilings and some rubble. In addition, many (most?) of the members had to deal with destroyed/damaged homes, boats, vehicles, etc....even some loss of life. Coastal Mississippians are, in general, a badass resilient bunch, however. They took the bad with the good, dug in, and got on with life.
Fast forward twenty-six years and OSYC will be hosting the International (not called World anymore?) Hobie 16 Championships this September. Not bad for a lil' ole' club on the Mississippi Gulf Coast!
(To this day, my favorite regatta trophy is a simple wood base under a jigsaw-cut/hand (sharpie)-drawn cat made from a piece of the pre-Katrina OSYC swimming pool liner. Might look a little crude to some, but it's a meaningful masterpiece to me.)

Yes indeed! My favorite trophy of all! Here's a pic of mine!
First post on the new forum. No hate just lack of time, thanks Damon for keeping the dream alive.
Haven't had the SC in water in six month, us Floridians have a lot of distractions. But the fiberglass tubes I ordered to make new battens arrived today, so it will be on soon!

Yep...that was 2006...the first Slip-To-Ship Regatta after Katrina.
Hell, they even went ahead with the Shearwater Regatta in October 2005 (my second favorite trophy). It was a bare bones event, but they carried on like Coast folk do...buoy racing on Biloxi Bay with the crumpled Bay Bridge as a backdrop. While they are tough as nails, it brought tears (of joy) to some of the old-timers' eyes to see those cats on the water less than two months after that devastating storm.

I was there, just rubble and a hole where the swimming pool had been. Someone managed to setup a water hose on a post for rinsing off.
I swear I must have taken pictures since I always did, but haven't ever been able to find any.Â
I did find these from the old OSYC club right before Katrina. The camping one I think was Slip to Ship (Memorial Weekend) 2005.
Maybe someone can tell for sure.
Well Damon your awesome site had it. Here it is in my albumPosted by: @damon-linkousPosted by: @rattlenhumPosted by: @pmYes indeed! My favorite trophy of all! Here's a pic of mine!
