Hobie Catsy
My 6 year old daughter and her friend got to take out her new Hobie Catsy for the first time on the Mississippi Gulf coast a couple of weeks ago. Such a cool platform for young kids to lean how to sail. Its a Hobie Cat Europe boat, but I wish we had more of them in the U.S.!
I would say it is more of a very scaled down Getaway than a Wave. It has a jib and the bows actually extend a good bit forward of the front crossbar. The picture below has the Catsy next to a Getaway.
Zim Sailing imported a few of them during the brief time were the North American Hobie distributer. I picked up the boat from Zim in Rhode Island on my way to Maine where I work for the summers. I let the kids at the summer camp use it for the summer and then took it home with me to New Orleans.

Reminds me of the Hobie 3.5 that was avaliable in the 1970's. Second picture is of the 3.5 sitting on top of a Hobie 14.

The first time I even heard of this boat was when I was looking at the SCHRS Ratings. Looks like a fun boat to learn on; more fun than an Optimist I bet. It's the smallest boat on the ratings list.
