Long Island, New York....where to go!?!?

It amazes me that long island, with more than 200 miles of shoreline does not have a beach where you can store your cat and sail from the beach, everywhere you go you have to trailer your boat. Any suggestions???

Also Im thinking of starting a beachcat association locally since I dont think there is one to get people together race, have fun and have more power to set something up with a local municipality to see if we could set something up on a local beach.

Please let me know your thoughts and if someone has gone through the same thing.
