Hi all. New here on BeachCats. Gathering info for a possible purchase on a cat. Looking at H16.

What does the sail number on the H16 mean? In other words, is each sail "registered". (which would mean that the higher the number, the newer the sail).

If so, is there any cross ref on approx numbers to years (or decades...)

thanks in advance for any info,
David Soniat - Tampa, FL

Sail numbers can be an indicator of vintage but sails are interchangable as well. Check the transoms of both hulls for serial numbers, CCM######## They will be engraved in the fiberglass. This will tell you the year it was built. The newer boat sail numbers are 100K+.

Right-O. good point, sail number is only an indicator of sail age...not boat age (that's in the serial numb).

thanks,

If it is the original sail (big if), doesn't the number represent the number the hull came off the production line (i.e. sail 100 came with the 100th boat built)?
