23 Hobie 16’s showed up for the Hobie Fleet 204 Thursday Night Race series. Three races, windward leeward, in 12-14 Kts were run by Kevin Wilson (volunteer and racer-read he took his turn and gave up a night of racing to help out.

On the water were:

[color]-Three full youth teams

- [color]Three Women skippers-Two fully crewed women boats
AND YES they were at class weight

-Four children under age nine crewing for there dad’s
-------I was one of those teams with my daughter Erika (8 yrs old) sailing in her first race!
-------we carried 20lbs to make weight.
-One family had three boats on the water, three families had two boats
-skill levels from top ten at Nationals to new boat owners were on the water.
-AT LEAST THREE BOATS, IF NOT MORE HAD FIRST YEAR SAILORS ON BOARD!!

Susan Korz won all three races with blazing boatspeed and great crew work form Diane B.

After most of the racers met at Borio’s Restaurant to nosh and debrief.

Anyhow, I just thought that this little fleet race was worth noting as an example of what can be achieved at a local fleet race level. And I am proud of my home fleet!!!!

Check out the 204 website for fleet race scores and get info on the Hobie 16 North American Champs on Onieda Lake in Central New York.

Check out the webcam at Borio's Restaurant from the Fleet 204 home page by clicking on camera and go back to 6:15pm and 6:44pm last night. There are more than 20 boats shown out on the water at 6:44. Tom you forgot to mention one boat had a dog on board.

You guys have done a great job with your fleet over there. The youth sailor development in your fleet is phenomenal and the envy of all of us trying to do the same in our fleets. You guys are living proof that you can be successful as a Hobie fleet. It is the result a combination of your fleet members dedication and enthusiasm!

Your events are top notch and I am very much looking forward to the 16 Nationals! It will be like a week-long Madcatter...wow. Keep up the good work!

Yo Jeff;

Thanks for the compliment. We hope to return the favor by bring a bunch of boats to Port Burwell this weekend. I'm leaving in about 3 hours and I think we'll have about 10 boats coming!

See everyone at the Port Burwell Combined Div 10 & 16 Points Regatta This Weekend!

Rico.

To all you 204 members at the Alter Cup with no wind. We missed you guys last night. Blowing out of the east at about 12 with nice waves. 14 boats on the water with 6 youth sailors and 2 skippering. 3 races with double trapping for all teams. Mimi, Rob, Herb and me battling for the wins with the B fleeters getting faster every week. I think we had 2 capsizes and Dr. Herb doing an amazing "Wicked Dick" (kinda appropriate) right at A mark while in the lead. Finished up with usual debrief at Borio's. Good luck to all.
