[#24223]

I purchased a used Hobie 16 this past summer and I'm interested in finding cat sailors in my area. I'm on Bodkin Creek just off the Chesapeake. Anybody out there?

Couple of Hobie sailors

Dan Flanigan runs Hobie fleet 54. They host the Gunpowder Regatta in early may up on the river. They sail off a beach just north of Gibson Island on occasion.

see www.sailcrac.com for info.

When you say you live on

Bodkin Creek

do you mean that you live in the community of Bodkin Creek

? Were you flooded out by Isabell??

If you answer yes to these questions you have one of the best local H16/Fleet54 Sailors living with-in walking distance (a very short walk!!!)

You need to go find Ronny Kveck ... he lives in

Bodkin Creek".

Please PM me and I'll pass your info to Ronny

Thanks.

I've seen other cats on the creek but wasn't able to really catch up to anyone to get any info. I tried sailing around different places with beached cats trying to tease someone out to go sail, but no luck. I'll check them out.

Yup! On the Bodkin, in the cove just past Ventnor Marina. I know there are a number of Hobies on this creek and at least one Prindle, I just haven't been able to contact anyone. I'll have to check out Fleet 54. Thank You

PS I also have a Windrider 16 Trimaran that I cruise the creek on.

Hi Chesicat,

You are not that far from Ronnie .... Please send me a PM (Private Message) here on CatSailor or to my E-Mail address at harrymurphey@yahoo.com and I'll arrange for you to contact Ronnie and Danny from Hobie Fleet54, both of whom are good friends of mine.

Hi Scott,

Yes I did ... You should be recieving a phone call and/or E-Mail from Danny Flanigan .... also Ronnie has seen you out on the creek on your

Windrider

... he asked what is your sail number (on the H16)so he can keep an

eye out

for you ... he has a boat, along w/ his nieghbor next to community boat ramp in Bodkin Creek on his nieghbor's property ... if you see the sails up stop on in ...

Thanks Harry,

I'm not sure of my sail #, but I'm pretty sure I'm the only bright yellow H16 with Carolina Blue sails...I'm pretty hard to miss. Especially when a cat on the water catches your eye and causes you scratch your head wondering what the hell that person is doing sailing that boat. At any rate, I'll check the sail # this weekend. I also want to get some pix of my hulls so I can post and get some advise. I've been doing a lot of reading around the forums and I think I'll look into a furling system for the jib. More later.

Scott

OK!
Did a quick inspection of the boat and it appears that I have some issues on the starboard hull that'll have to be addressed before the coming season. I'll post some photos and seek advice before tearing (drilling) into it.

I checked my sails and they're in reasonably good shape... Nothing a little sail tape won't fix. Mostly some wear spots on jib batten pockets. Sail # 43519
