[#14424]

Today at lunch there was sun and a beautiful ~12-15 mph wind, after three days of clouds and rain. I couldn't wait to get off work and go sailing!

When I left for the day the flags were just flapping a bit and by the time I got to the lake the water was glassy. WHY OH WHY IS SHE TOYING WITH ME LIKE THIS??? I haven't gone sailing in TWO WEEKS NOW.

Instead I wound up working on my trailer some. (Built cradles for the front part of the hulls out of 8" PVC, spray foam, spray glue, foam tubing, and outdoor carpet.) Now I just need to repaint the whole thing and it'll be like new!

Still... I was really looking forward to going out on the water. [Linked Image]

How about putting up a picture of the cradles with a little more explanation. One of our trailers just has carpet on it and we were brainstorming of ways to build our own cradles.

Here are some drawings showing what I did:

(BTW the PVC is about a foot long - front to back.)

Forum is SLOW these days! So... I'll try this thread again.

Today weather.com said the wind forecast for "after work" was 21mph. I was excited. I got to the marina as soon as I could and started rigging up while I waited for my girlfriend to show up. The wind started dying down, however, and by the time we were out on the lake we barely got any heel at all. After 30 minutes of sailing the water was almost glass and we were creeping along at mebbe 1mph. I kept shouting "WHERE IS MY 21 MPH OF WIND?!?!?"

*sigh*

I suffer the same problem... I use wunderground.com, weather.com and the weatherbug to get a better idea of what might be out there.
I had good luck on Sunday (17th). Had a bit more than 15 mph of wind when I started. The wind lasted during all afternoon. I shared the lake with three (3) motor boaters who rarely crossed my way. At 7 pm I was encouraged by the park ranger to hit home. Had a good time.

AGAIN SHE DOES IT TO ME!!! The last two days it was warm and windy (10-15) but I was too busy to do anything. Last night a cold front passes and now it's 53° and calm.
