[#17465]

i have a double grommetted tramp with some completely shot lacing, i do like the bungee lacing that it has, and i was wondering if the standard lacing kit Hobie sells would fit a double grommetted tramp?

The tramp lace kit #2064 has 3/8" bunjee. The kit is for 14/16/18s. There is 33' cut into 3 lengths of bungee. Should be enough for double grommeted tramps (across the back).

over the last summer i replaced the back lacing with rope, and it used up most of a 25 foot piece of rope...

The standard rear lace is 2 lengths of 15' (30' overall)

The Bungee stretches a ton.

yes... it did stretch a ton, not but enough, if anyone has ever got a standard lace kit on a double grommeted tramp... let me know... lacing that sucker up was hard as hell, in order for it to fit the right way, both the lace and tramp need some SERIOUS persuasion...

Try the two vise Grip plier method. I pulled the rope lacing (hated bungee) through each grommet and anchored it with a small vise grip pliers clamped on the rope just on the other side of the grommet(lke a stopper). Then I went through another grommet and clamped it before releasing the other vise grip. This holds the tension on and frees you up for the tugging and fighting required to get the tramp tight enough. We did this at the begining of every season. I have tried lacing while the boat was tipped on its side in the grass (lower hull gets in the way!) and off the trailer in the grass. That worked much better.
