[#15726]

I recently bought a Hobie 16 and am curious about whether or not the thing needs to be registered and have hull ID stickers. Florida law requires that sailboats 16' or longer require registration, but I have not seen any online pictures of H16's in Florida with registration numbers. Has anyone ever been hassled by the marine patrol or other law enforcement for not having a H16 registered? Thanks for your responses!

Florida does not require non-motorized sailboats to be registered

Rick, thanks for the reply. I thought the same thing until I read the 8th FAQ on this webpage... http://www.hsmv.state.fl.us/dmv/faqboat.html#7 Now I am not so sure. I guess what I should have asked is "Does anyone have a Hobie 16 that IS registered in the State of Florida, and if so, what prompted you to register it? Anybody?

Ah, after reading it again I see that it states that the boat must be titled, but doesn't say anything about being registered... cool.
