Hi
I am helping a friend set up a H16. I have an 18 and need to ask about a few differences. The big thing is the main hoisting. On the 18 the main locks in at the top. I don't see that on the 16. Could someone direct me as to how to run the halyard on the 16

Thanks

Dave

The halyard on the H16 runs over the top pulley to the front of the mast. There is a ferrule swaged onto the wire halyard which will hook onto a "Tang" on the front of the mast when fully hoisted. You then tie off the halyard tail so it doesn't fall in the water. The older styles like mine have two ferrules, 1 for reefing the main. I think the newer boats don't have the second ferrule.

Good luck,

See link - The linked image shows the halyard hook just below the mast head. The main halyard has a bullet nicro-pressed onto it. Raise the main and the bullet will go past the hook, then release as the bullet goes into the hook. To release, pull the haylard as the bullet comes out of the hook and let the sail down by passing the bullet by the hook on one side or the other. Both old style and new style masts work the same way.
