[#22763]

I recently got an old Hobie 16 (I think it might be a '74, but not sure). At least two previous owners had it as a 'beach dragger,' so the hull centerlines are worn down. I plan on doing a quick layup of glass to thicken those up, but there is another repair that I need to do. The port hull fell on a 2x6 and crushed a foot long section of the keel. The pylons weren't affected, but I figure that I need to patch up both the inside and outside layers of glass. Since it's an old boat and I don't want to spend a ton of money taking it to a marina, any advice on repairing it would be appreciated. I can post some pics if needed.

Ok, how bout a direct question: should I use a polyester resin or is West System epoxy stuff ok to use when doing glassing on the Hobie?

so I would say you need epoxy if it is structural.
