I have a Hobie 16 ('86) with stock lines and setup. How can I best adjust mast rake to go a bit faster and tack better. I don't race....

Move the side stays to a lower hole in the chainplates.

Rake as far aft as possible for best performance. This helps the boat point higher and the bows from digging in as much.

Set the shrouds lower and tension the jib halyard. Check the main sheeting tension. Repeat until you get the main sheeted hard with little or no gap between the boom and main blocks. Too far aft and the main can not be properly sheeted.
