Loose corner casting rivets! Which type to use?
Hello All,
The rear corner casting to crossbar rivets on my H16 are comming loose. The rivets can be pulled out a llittle bit and can move from side to side making the corner casting and rear crossbar loose .
What type of rivets should be used?
I have heard Hobie uses Monel rivets, and I was also told that stainless steel rivets could be used.
Also what is the proper size and length, and should I use over size rivets?
Any Rivet Info is appreciated !
Also, I have also read an article on how to Epoxy the frame toghether. I am interested in this project, but would not want to start it untill after this summer.
Has anyone had success with the Epoxy'd Frame project? I would love to hear feedback.
Thanks,

Find the Hobie rivet guide, between the parts diagrams of the 14 and 16 of your Hobie catalog.
Corner castings are generally part number 08011231.
Look up the description of rivet in the price list and you'll find a number like 6-8
You can order the rivets from Hobie or use the 6-8 to identify the rivet in Murrays catalog, which are sometimes
available in stainless or Monel. There are probably many other suppliers which sell the same rivets, but I haven't tried them.
Also, have never epoxied a frame yet, but there's a good article in 'On the Wire' which decribes the process.
Cool, I had the catalog and was looking everywhere for those numbers. I looked so hard that I didnt notice they had a whole page devoted to them. I may temporarly replace them with stainless, but would like to redo all the tramp frame rivets with monel and do the Epoxy thing.
Thanks for the Help!
