Hi folks I need help ! Im adding a furling system and jib to my newly restored Hobie 14 but ran into a problem. First thing is I did not use a stock Hobie furling drum and swivel that the bridle wire attach above the drum, but I opt for a Harken small boat furling system that the bridles will connect below the drum. Well heres my problem how do you set up a fore stay adjuster with multiple holes to adjust mast rake on this type of drum. The Harken drum has a jaw type fitting on top and bottom of the drum I assume the luff wire goes in the top jaw of the drum with a clevis pin and ring ding but the bottom end needs a toggle with adjusting holes to rake the mast . On the factory Hobie drum it looks like the toogle slides right through the center of the drum to adjust rake but I cant do that on this set up. Im sure some one has seen this set up and can give me some help Thanks

If you need an adjuster in the setup, I would put it on top of the furler. You could clamp one end of an adjuster flat so it fits inside the furler jaws. You will need a large diameter shackle in the lower jaw to provide a place to hook the two bridle wires to. I had this exact setup when I added furling to my H16. It probably isn't critical, so I'm sure it will work for you to put the adjuster on the bottom if that is what you want to do.
Good luck,
Jack
