Oldest 14 sailing
I have #242 14, I know the guy that bought it new. He sailed it for 1 year and then stored it for ten years in a barn. Then he sold it to another close family friend. He upgraded it to a turbo, and I must say he did a really nice job. He also tried to paint below the water line to add an interesting contrast.
After that was when I got ahold of her. I fixed a few minor things and then started abusing her. Not really but I think she has gone through alot more than she ever has before.
I was just wondering if anyone out there knows of an older Hobie still sailing. What I think is really funny is that she is very light. Even after I have had to inject some epoxy into the hulls to fix soft spots just in front of the pylons, she still is under 250. If I am correct that is light for the 14.
Now I have added a furling hooter, I wonder if this is what Mr. Alter had in mind for this old baby.
The picture is before I added the hooter but you can see what she looks like, just wait for a few months and she will have an entirely new paint job.
