I was thinking about repainting my hobie cat this winter, I was planning on using gelcoat on the sides of the hulls and going with a base coat clear coat system for the decks( auto paint). I have extra paint from doing some body work on my pickup and I thought the metallic color would look pretty neat. I see bass boats with some sweet paint so why not my cat?

Any opinions for or against are welcome.

I've used high quality automotive paint on two cats now, and am very pleased with the results. Flight Risk still shines after 8 yrs, 'cept where I've scraped it off having fun!

Did you paint the entire hulls that way or just the tops? Do you have any pics to share?

I did all the prep work, then took the hulls to my favorite bodyman and he shot them(the whole hulls). I haven't mastered posting pics here, but would be happy to do so if someone wants to talk me thru it. Or send me an email and I'll sent shots that way.
