Hi all,
Don't know if it happens to other people but, sometimes, going upwind, two-trapped, the rudder seems to go crazy, the boat gets slooow and we end finally into irons.
Any tips on how to avoid it, or at least how to recover from
it?

First off is how to prevent it – To prevent this – you need to rake your rudders under the boat as much as possible. Based on your sail #, you have a newer boat with adjustable rudder cams (a hex bolt on top of the rudder casting).

Second – To relieve the pressure while sailing – Get back and sheet out – Get back on the boat to sink the rudders
and
Sheet out (a little at a time until the pressure on the rudders is relieved).

Hope this helps

Aestela,

If by "going crazy" you mean the rudders jerk back and forth, then you may have them raked too far forward. You may actually need to rake them backwards. Too much forward rake actually makes the rudder more sensitive and this may be your problem. You need to clarify what you meant by going crazy.

By going crazy I mean mainly noisy and turbulent flow. The perceived steering lose may be produced by the boat going very slow or stopping.
