[#19425]

Hi,
I have damaged the top of my Hobie 16 mast about 3 feet from the top. I live in Phuket Thailand so its impossible to get or import a complete new mast.

However, I could import a 3' piece of identical mast section to replace it. In fact, two 3' sections would be better as I could use the 2nd piece to make the internal sleeve.

Would anyone know of a vendor who has a broken mast or a vendor with a 2nd hand H16 mast who would be willing to cut off two 3' pieces and send it to my shipping agent in New Jersey, USA?

Thanks for any assistance

Would it be easier to do the CompTip conversion?

They can get you a CompTip. That replaces the upper 3rd of the mast. Standard on all Hobie Cats built in the USA since the mid 80's.

I guess this is how the New World Order works out here in the Third World.....

The part is probably $100. It's the shipping that's a killer.

The US list price for a Hobie 16 CompTip is $490.00

We offer a substantial discount (in the USA) when used for an original retrofit on an all aluminum mast. This is a safety issue... and a liability and Class racing issue here.

You cannot use those reasons in this case... and it is offshore. Maybe that is in Aussie dollars? The distributor for the South Pacific is of Australian facility.

Yes, freight and multiple import / export duties likely adds considerably to the cost overseas.
