Here in Minnesota this season, the wind exists in only two conditions: 1) No wind; or 2)Wind blows like snot.

The trusty old Hobie is either a poor substitute for a stationary swim raft, or summorsaults across the lake like a flipping gymnast.(Apologies to the spelling police.)

Are other folks across the country experiencing weird winds?

Here in eastern PA, it was just like that last summer.....a bit of a bummer if i do say so myself, either 0-5 or 25-30.....and sailing solo thats a bit too much for me personally.

I saw a guy do a wind dance at the lake once, maybe you could try that?

Jeff-
it has been an odd year hasn't it? Blowing like hell, or calm as a hindu cow. It'll level off. Always does. All to soon those nice steady fall winds will bring us snow. You know tomorrow the days start getting shorter again? <img src=

Here in MA, the last couple weeks have been pretty good. Every sailing day has been reasenobly strong- I have yet to go out for a float instead of a sail. Tommorrow is supposed to be alittle heavy, but we'll see what the weather brings.

Yea it stated mild yesterday and went to 15-18 mph by the afternoon. Let my grand daughter helm. She was a real trouper. I did the main sheet and help her gybe and tack. She is 13 and has been sailing with me for 7 years. She also got a lot of trap time. I am going to give her this little boat to race and sail with friends later.

At least we have water, last year at this time the lake was only about half as wide. Now I have to be careful coming into bank because all of the picnic tables from campsites are underwater! Sailing in the rain is fun...sailing with no wind and rain...not so fun!

Last sunday, we had serious wind- measured at 28 mph by the committe boat. Nearly pitchpoled my non-turbo 14. Wicked fun, though.
