Hi All
Only 2 weeks to go until the biggest event in the Western Region, Lake Bullen Merri looking a treat, and we are making the final preparations for all to enjoy the Easter weekend.
With an influx of entrants today, who have decided not to risk it going North, I'm currently in the process of ordering additional showers to cater for everyone.
It would be great if those who intend on making their way to Camperdown if they could indicate on this thread, to ensure we have everything in place to cover everyones needs.
Hope to see you there.

Bullen Marri attracted 5 Mossies, this year fighting it out with about 60 other boats, was a great weekend with warmish weather and breeze that varied from light to moderate. On the Monday it was great to see 2 national champions from the past race off against each other. Garry Lane (6? time national champion) vs Ian Lane (1 time national champion, the only one he sailed in).
Without doubt one of the best learning weekends I've had in many a year.....
Many thanks to Ross for his knowledge sharing and both Gary and Ian Lane for opening the brain-bank and letting out so much info as well.
Although the wind god was sparatic and at times just down right mean at others, the competition was 1st class all the way, fun times when Taipan and A-class sailors are asking each other how the hell can an old mozzie pass us like that !!!
<img src="<>/grin.gif" alt="grin" title="grin" height="15" width="15" /> (that'll teach em to pay homage to the wind god) <img src="<>/wink.gif" alt="wink" title="wink" height="15" width="15" />
A great weekend of sailing, a great weekend of social interaction, and....... Old Twice Shy brought home trophies again
<img src="<>/grin.gif" alt="grin" title="grin" height="15" width="15" />
Are there results anywhere?
Great to see the Lanes still going, I sailed Fireballs back in the 70's when Ian was sailing them, last saw him in a RL24.
Hope to see you all at the Sauna Sail at Hazelwood (it's east of Melbourne but not far), don't think there are any other regattas on that weekend, usualy making it the biggest Mossie Regatta of the year (outside of Titles). <img src="<>/cool.gif" alt="cool" title="cool" height="15" width="15" />
It's a great opportunity to sail with current National and State Champions on a very social weekend where the racing isn't too serious <img src="<>/cry.gif" alt="cry" title="cry" height="15" width="15" />. You'll find the current top sailors more than happy to share the latest information on how to make a Mossie Fly, with or without spinnaker. <img src="<>/grin.gif" alt="grin" title="grin" height="15" width="15" />
Gary's been the hard one to get (for the want of a better word..)
motivated
, very fussy with the boat and its intricate modified bits at home but hadn't done any real on the water testing. We've been working on him to forget the development part and get on the water for a year or so now.
The cameras came out when the white ford and the red boat made an appearance, many of us in total shock that it was actually happening <img src="<>/shocked.gif" alt="shocked" title="shocked" height="15" width="15" />
Ian is still happily fanging the RL24 around and he is the Race Officer for the easter racing aswell, although he was commited to doing the R/O stuff he really wanted to sail even tho the boat was at home in the shed.
3 of us worked on him one morning to sail a spare mozzie and counter all his excuses as he came up with them, but with a rigged & sail up ready to go mozzie on the beach and I armed him with wetsuit/lifejacket/trap-jacket/booties/ & gloves he really couldn't put up much resistance
<img src="<>/wink.gif" alt="wink" title="wink" height="15" width="15" />
the best bit about it tho......
Both of them enjoyed themselves and had a ball
