Sailing somewhere warmer next Winter?

Been down this road before but always interested to take a boat back ...
How would you suggest getting boats there ??? ... had looked previously at 40ft container, worked out about 8 boats without breaking them down and all gear.
We used to ship our boats back and forth from Darwin, so this time in reverse ... we would certainly look at it.

well us younger people can get double decked trailers and take them across for you. in my head now i can can think of 6 double decked trailers, and 4 drivers so far that i recon will do this road trip which would be fun. and we can pick you guys up from airport

i got a call from the president of MANTA today.
All cats invited. If you want to go you have to book accom about jan feb as its busy at that time of year with their horse racing like melbourne cup.
they will post very soon the NOR on the tornado website and MANTA Website. This event only runs every 3 years.
2006 had good numbers, 2009 doubled numbers and next year they are expecting big numbers
For melbourne people it will take 3 daytime days to drive to get there, and hoping to go all in one big group.

The Bee Alert trailer will definitely lose that one - I nearly crippled myself just trying to get it in the garage.
However I think it might comfortably carry 3 or 4 Mosquitoes.

I've seen 3 Cobras on a single trailer. It wasn't hard. Just take the beams off one and put the hulls between the hulls of the one on top.

Some boats are easier than others to de-beam. Mine is dead easy - I'd be happy to do it that way to get another car off the road to Darwin.

Could you take the beams off another mossie to put the hulls between the one on the roof of the ute for a total of 5?

Easiest way is still a container, delivered to the sailing club and flying
If people are prepared to dismantle them then the 8 goes out the window and would be easy 12.
Driving, well, been there, done that.... nothing looks stranger than a boat in Alice Springs, but you could stop at Tennant Ck for a sail.

you guys are funny, i was thinking of 3 on trailer but the windage is a bit too much, and it will stand 2.7 meters from ground to top, bit high i think to travel safely,, but if my brother comes he will have another double decker trailer, so we could have 5 boats already going.

Ok, been thinking about this one......I am going to go as well - I am going to take some long service leave.

Going to drive up and then take a holiday after the week of sailing.......am keen to do a group of us driving up.

For those looking into going it is a very popular time of the year and early bookings on accom seem to be needed.

So... Now that we're only 2 months out, who's going? I'm driving up from Melbourne, and wouldn't say no to company. Gotta bring your own ride though, mine only sits 2 and both seats are full... The current plan is to go up slow and easy, and come home fast. Only trouble I can think of is that the trailer only holds one boat, or I'd offer to take others.

Latest I heard is that Matt is sailing Tornie and everybody else seems to have made other plans, so I don't know any Mossies are going.

yes thats correct, im sailing with Dave Hart and Daniel is sailing on the torni aswell with andy griffin.
