The American Shark Association just joined with 25 members and $250! These 25 members plus Michael Wolf (our newest individual member) puts our total membership at an even 100!

not to bad! I feel terribly guilty because I haven't done so much recently to help promote us. We should set a couple of realistic goals for this year and get a big surge going this spring and make our presence visible at the big spring regattas again.
Bob, how are we handling the record keeping of the new members now that Tami is out of the picture? I should be able to keep the database updated from here until we can get someone else to take the responsibility.

When we get new members, I've been sending them a membership card and welcome letter. So, the membership card database and envelope database are two sources of membership info. In addition, I've also added the data into the Quick Books database. All told, I have three redundant databases. Oh, almost forgot, since I recently had a complete computer hard drive failure, I also have the data on 3 1/2" floppy and CD, so I guess that makes five copies of the database.

I almost forgot to add that keeping the database up to date is a piece of cake, so I don't mind doing it. Also, it makes sense since all the members are sending me the money and application forms anyway.

Jake, You had sent me some decals that you made and one was the NAHCA Course Sticker. After looking it over carefully, I got to thinking how confusing they have made the courses. Used to be all you had to know was course Nos 3,4, and 7, and you always finished upwind.
So, for kicks, I tried to draw up some courses that would offer simplicity, yet still offer the RC a lot of different looks and also get in some reaches (for example, the Tradewinds calls for shorter courses for the slower boats, longer courses for the faster boats, but strangely enough there is no way you can have the fast boats go on a reach and get out of the way of the slower boats -- go figure)
Here is a rough idea:

I believe it was two years ago in the Tradewinds I ran a NAHCA course 1 for the slower boats (thinking it was once around), and then discovered we had boats finishing upwind and downwind. What a mess that was.
At any rate, do you think this is something NAMSA could offer with membership and in regatta sanctioning?

Sure it's possible...see attachment. My cost on these is about $0.75 ea. We might be able to get them silkscreened for less in quantity.
I like the idea - do you think it will generate much confusion?

I saw a NAMSA Decal on a mainsail and was wondering what they cost?? Also what size?

Frankly, I find the new version of NAHCA's courses are really a mess. That was why I screwed up a couple of years ago and had boats finishing up and downwind through the same finish line. Scary 
Also, with a lot of fleets like the Tradewinds the NAHCA course do not allow any way for the RC to get the fast fleets off and around the weather mark and off to a reaching mark and out of the way of the later starting fleets and still have a long course.
It is probably too late to do something for the NAMSA NAs, but at the meeting we could discuss the idea of issuing a sticker to all members as well as the sail decal (which could be used on a car, too)
And speaking of the meeting, it is apparent that Tim Johnson will not make the meeting, nor will Bob, so we will be sans a secretary and treasurer.
As for an agenda, I think we can play that pretty loose for this time around, but we need to address a number of initiatives and how far they have gotten.
