Any way to ressurect an ad that has died a time-out death?

No, when an ad is not renewed it expires and is deleted immediately.
When an ad is marked sold by using the "SOLD IT!" link it is marked sold and then deletes after several weeks. During the time it is marked sold it is possible to bring it back by using the "RELIST IT!" link.
