Maybe this has been asked before (could not find anything though); would you recommend mounting floatation panels to the top of the main sail to prevent turtling?
There is a shallow waters with rocky grounds... Boat is a Prindle 18-2. A buoy on top of the mast might also be an option, though it looks funny, but I' more concerned about stability than looks or racing ability.

This was discussed as an idea to combine flotation at the top of the sail, and use the "end plate affect" (not sure of the term) wing tips to improve air flow.
Create something like this picture attached to the top of a square top main.
Of course if all you want is flotation at the top of the mast, the standard is the Hobie Bob.
