[#25891]

Is there a good source for used A-Cats other than the US Class web site? Not in the market (yet), just currious what older A's would go for these days.

There are 1 or 2 A-Cats in Singapore for sale if anyone is looking to import. The older one is asking something like SGD15,000 for an Australian Flyer (owner bought a yacht), which is less than US$11k. Other is a Geltek Flyer 2 and is USD$20k. Send me a PM if anyone is interested.

I'm not sure I'm going to make it to SF this year, if I do odds are probably on bringing the A.

You gonna Mosley Out? I dont even have a boat or a ride yet and Im going! Although Bokeelia is the weekend before and I had to make a decision, a very tough decision between the two and I had to choose SF. It came down to kids, not venues, because Bokeelia is one of my favorite venues and Ben throws a heck of a party.

That's what made my decision also. Too much driving back to back.

If someone were looking into older A-cat's, what year did the min weight get lowered?

There was trial weight limit in the mid 90's of 80kg for a short period then the current limit of 75kg's was set. Most Boyer boats at least were under that at the time if they had a carbon mast.

That would have been the aim for serious builders. If you are looking to buy to race I would suggest not considering any A more than 2kg over. Things to look for that could add weight are significant repairs to hull or mast and overly heavy fittings and foils. Weighing the boat is the best thing to do. If you can't get hold of calibrated scales, two good bathroom scales will get you in the ballpark. Weigh the boat mast down with everything as the boat would be sailing on the platform. Doesn't include extras such shackle key, water bottle. gps, starting watch etc.

Cheers
